The Future of Bioethics in a Divided Democracy

Genetic Crossroads
August 4th, 2006

CGS Associate Director Marcy Darnovsky spoke about "Democratizing Biopolitics: Civil Society and the Future of Human Biotechnology" on a panel at the Future of Bioethics in a Divided Democracy conference held in Albany, NY on July 13 and 14.

A highlight of the conference took place before it even began. As participants gathered their coffee and name tags, they were greeted by the spirited chants of about 40 activists from Not Dead Yet, who were protesting the failure of conference organizers to include speakers giving a disability rights perspective. An account and pictures of the protest have been posted by the Center for Disability Rights.
