March 2: CGS Executive Director Richard Hayes will be on Capitol Hill at the invitation of the New America Foundation to comment on Francis Fukuyama's and Franco Furger's Beyond Bioethics, a new report that proposes comprehensive regulation of human biotechnologies in the United States. Also invited to discuss the report, following presentations by Dr. Fukuyama and Dr. Furger, are William Galston of the Brookings Institution and Shannon Brownlee of New America Foundation. Steven Clemons will moderate a question and answer session. The event takes place from 12:00 - 2:30 pm (lunch will be served) in B-339 Rayburn House Office Building. February 24: Richard Hayes was invited to respond to computer scientist Verner Vinge, a leading proponent of the notion that the age of greater-than-human intelligence is looming, on The Tech Chronicles, a blog about "the digital frontier" run by the San Francisco Chronicle.
