While an anti-trust lawsuit has been filed claiming that prices of eggs are being kept too low, a petition is being circulated by the Alliance for Humane Biotechnology calling for the creation of a well-publicized national registry to track the long-term risks of egg retrieval, and urging that ads recruiting egg "donors" be required to state that those risks are unknown.

In addition to CGS, the petition has been endorsed by Our Bodies, Ourselves, National Organization for Women (NOW), Council for Responsible Genetics, ProChoice Alliance for Responsible Research, and National Women's Health Network.
