Socially Responsible Science: A Neuroscientist Pledge

As in many scientific fields, neuroscience has brought us many applications that are beneficial, and a few that are decidedly not so. In the latter category are neuroscientific contributions to torture and aggressive war.

An emeritus senior scientist at Oregon Health and Science University is asking his colleagues to sign a pledge saying simply that they'll make themselves aware of potential neuroscience applications that "violate basic human rights or international law" and "refuse to knowingly participate" in developing them.
